Following the legal action by Stac Electronics Microsoft licenced a disk-compression package called DoubleDisk from VertiSoft Systems and renamed it DriveSpace, which was included in MS-DOS 6.22
MS-DOS 6.22 is the last stand-alone OS in the Microsoft's DOS line-up. It is still available for download via their MSDN, volume license, and OEM license partner websites, for customers with valid login credentials.
Beginning with the release of Windows 95 MS-DOS was integrated as a full product used for bootstrapping and troubleshooting.
